Licensed Paralegal

Rudner Law is an award-winning Employment Law firm providing strategic advice to employers and employees regarding all aspects of the employment relationship, including representation before courts, mediators and tribunals. We are seeking a Licensed Paralegal with Employment Law experience to become a part of our virtual team!

Paralegal Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal proceedings (such as simple pleadings, Motions, Exhibits, Affidavits, Bill of Costs, etc.)
  • Draft various correspondence (such as notices, memos, letters, reports, and other documents)
  • Serve and file court documents
  • Attend at Small Claims Court, short motions, Tribunals
  • Maintain and organize client contacts, files and update lawyers’ calendars
  • Schedule and prepare for mediations, examinations, pre-trials, and trials
  • Manage administrative tasks, docketing, filing, scheduling of appointments and coordinating meetings
  • Conduct legal research
  • Write blogs and other media articles
  • Conduct client intake
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Licensed Paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Paralegal
  • Strong knowledge of applicable provincial and federal labour laws, including but not limited to the common law, the Employment Standards Act, 2000, Canada Labour Code, Human Rights Code, and Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with strong proofreading skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Very good planning and organization skills; able to manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail and consistently meeting deadlines
  • As this is a remote role, you must have dedicated office space and secure, reliable internet connection

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc)
  • Experience with Clio Manage
  • Experience managing files independently
  • Small Claims court and tribunal experience is an asset
