Before we start to discuss Strategic HR, we need to ensure compliance with provincial and federal laws and regulations. The employment relationship is governed by a myriad of laws, including:
- employment standards,
- human rights,
- occupational health and safety, and
- privacy.
Most businesses are not aware of their legal obligations, let alone fully compliant. Employers must have certain policies and procedures, and they must post certain information in the workplace, even if they only have one employee. Most don’t.
Compliance is the bare minimum, before you even begin to assess a strategic approach to HR. The laws are constantly being revised and reinterpreted, so even if you were compliant, you may not be anymore.
How we can help
We will ensure that your policies and practices do not breach the applicable laws, and then provide practical guidance and clear strategies to help you maximize your rights as an employer.
We will also tell you what to do if an Inspector shows up at your door (they have more powers than the police), and will represent you if you are faced with a complaint or charge.
We want to be your Trusted Advisor, your Chief HR Law Officer, your business partner. Let us be part of your team, so that we can look after your employment law issues, and you can focus on your business.
