High Times in HR: The Duty to Accommodate in the Age of Marijuana, Transgender and Daycare

January 17, 2017 @ 12:00 am EST

Human rights legislation continues to expand its reach and employers are sometimes surprised by the nature of situations that require accommodation. The worst thing employers can do is reject a request for accommodation out of hand. What do you do if:

  • A truck driver advises that he has a prescription for medical marijuana;
  • One of your employees requests a change of hours so that they can pick their children up from daycare; or
  • You have an employee that identifies as female, although they are biologically male, and asks to use the female washroom?

In this session, we will discuss…
The evolving protections afforded by human rights legislation, the duty to accommodate to the point of “undue hardship” and best practices for responding to accommodation requests.

Cost: FREE * for the first 150 HRPA Members who register. Thereafter, the cost of this event is $30.00; $45.00for non-HRPA Members and Guests.
