Signs Regarding No Smoking in the Workplace

Employment Standards

Amidst all of the discussion surrounding cannabis in the workplace, many employers may have missed the obligation to post signs in the workplace relating to prohibitions on smoking and vaping.

The Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017 requires that employers and proprietors post signs in a conspicuous manner and unobstructed from view. Details with respect to what must be posted can be found here. We note, however, that some of the requirements will change as the rules regarding where smoking or vaping is permissible evolve.
